Protect. Extend. Maintain.
Regardless of the age or condition of your asphalt, regular maintenance protects the surface quality throughout the life of your driveway and helps you avoid future repair costs. BorderLines provides preventive maintenance for residential driveways to reduce those costs while enhancing your home's curb appeal. Every plan is customized to the condition of your driveway.
We evaluate the age and condition of your asphalt and recommend the maintenance it actually needs.
We build a maintenance plan around the condition of your driveway, from sealcoating to crack sealing, asphalt repairs and asphalt paving.
We clear the entire area of dirt and debris so the product bonds properly.
We fill cracks and joints to keep moisture from penetrating the base beneath the surface.
We apply sealcoat as a waterproof layer that sheds water and slows oxidation.
Stay off newly applied sealcoat for at least 24 hours, and do not drive on it for at least 48 hours. Avoid turning your tires while stationary. If cracks were sealed, do not park on them for at least seven days.
We recommend filling cracks and joints every year to keep moisture out from underneath your driveway. Cracks let water penetrate the base beneath the surface, which can lead to more widespread cracking, sunken or broken-up asphalt, and eventually complete pavement failure.
Only temporarily. To permanently remove vegetation you need a product that kills the roots under the pavement, and your local nursery or hardware store can recommend one. Ants can eat through the rubber and re-make their holes, so it is best to have an exterminating service treat the driveway before we arrive.
Turn sprinkler systems off at least 12 hours before we arrive and leave them off for a minimum of 12 hours after we sealcoat. Refrain from using products like "Tire Shine" on the driveway. Dawn dish soap can help remove fresh oil spots, and keeping the pavement free from dirt and debris helps extend the life of the sealcoat.
Stay off a newly installed driveway for a minimum of one week. Asphalt takes about 90 days to fully cure, and during that time you should avoid small pressure points such as kick stands and lawn chairs.
